Hi, I'm Shannon—founder of Illusive Bloom. This brand grew out of my deep love for both science and scent—two seemingly different worlds that, to me, feel deeply connected.

With a background in biochemistry, I began quietly blending botanicals in search of a hair perfume that felt as natural as it was beautiful. What began as a personal experiment soon unfolded into a much deeper creative journey.

The Birth of Illusive Bloom

Illusive Bloom exists to translate the natural world into scent, using nothing but what Nature itself provides. Every fragrance I create relies solely on materials drawn from Nature - botanical oils, organic extracts, CO2 extracts, concretes, absolutes, tinctures, and natural isolates. I source these from a wide range of botanical and organic matter: flowers, fruits, seeds, roots, rhizomes, leaves, grasses, bark, wood, resins, gums, balsams, mosses, lichens, pods, beans, conifer needles, aquatic plants, and fungi. Many of these materials I extract myself, using techniques like steam distillation, enfleurage, and ethanol extraction.

In 2020, I used my stimulus funds to purchase the materials that would become the foundation of Illusive Bloom. What began as an investment in a small business soon became something much more personal - a creative practice rooted in curiosity, intention, and a profound appreciation for the art of scent.

For me, perfumery is about far more than creating something that smells beautiful. Fragrance has the power to evoke emotion, awaken memories, and transport us somewhere in an instant. Every Illusive Bloom fragrance is an exploration of that connection between botanicals, memory, and feeling.
